A FRESH fish market including an oyster and sashimi bar is set to open at Miami this month.

Paul Gloftis, son of the owners of Miami Marketta and brother to restaurant royalty Simon Gloftis, has a “coming soon” badge on the new Miami Fish Market.

Mr Glotis cooked up the idea with fellow Gold Coaster Craig Warren, drawing from their experiences living abroad. He said the Miami Fish Market was primarily inspired by his time in Barcelona.

“I used to go to the famous fish market La Boqueria every day and just hang out in the seafood section watching them cut fish,” Mr Gloftis said.

“Craig and I have known each other for 20 years and we came together and whipped up something pretty special.”

Miami Fish Market, at 1/54 Paradise Ave, has been five years in the making. “We want to have a place for people to come and enjoy, not just a fish bar. We want to educate people when they are here.”

The market, which is under construction just down the road from Miami Marketta, will also sell specialty items imported from Europe. “Like our family does with Market, we always support the community,” Mr Gloftis said.
